Conference Updates

Special Message from NC NENA President

Although North Carolina did not get a direct hit from Hurricane Irma, several Counties and Cities across the State did receive damaging winds and flooding.  Earlier this morning, it was reported that 75,000 customers were without power with 68,000 still remaining.  There were reports of trees down and creeks and rivers rising in several Western Counties.

With that being said, we at NCNENA are confident that our collaborative decision with NCAPCO, to reschedule the Public Safety Conference was the responsible thing to do.  We are in the business of “safety first” and that goes for our Telecommunicators, vendors and 911 professionals alike.  We are committed to making our rescheduled October 1st conference an enjoyable and educational filled event  with minimal changes from the original schedule.

I look forward to seeing all of you in Cherokee October 1st through the 4th and pray that Hurricane Jose stays in the Atlantic and far away from the U.S.

Rescheduled Conference Updated Information and Schedule

Hello everyone!

Now that we have settled into our conference being rescheduled to October 1-4, 2017, I wanted to update you on the new schedule format for this year.

In an effort to maximize our new time for the betterment of our members and friends, we have an updated version of this year's conference schedule. We are aware that the PSAP Managers group has a meeting beginning on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at 1:00 pm in Greensboro. Please see the attached Schedule At A Glance document below. Here is a summary of changes that have been made for this year:
  1. Please notice that our Sunday training will not begin before 1:00 pm, so a Saturday night stay may not be needed

  2. Our vendor hall time will all be on Monday, October 2nd and during the Monday evening event, so please make sure if you wanted only a day pass for vendor time, that it is for Monday.

  3. Our business meeting and closing banquet will now be on Tuesday, October 3, 2017, so for those of you having to get to Greensboro on Wednesday, you can leave knowing you have experienced the conference and not missed any vendor hall time, Chapter Business, awards, etc.

  4. The training on Wednesday will be for a half of day for the Telecommunicators and anyone else who is not going to the PSAP Managers meeting on Wednesday afternoon to enjoy before heading home.
We are still working hard to make sure that our attendees, vendors and all involved have a wonderful annual NC APCO NENA Public Safety Conference. We hope to see you and your staff there!

NC APCO Chapter President
